Do you have the cd key(s)?
- Sign up for a Blizzard Account and then log in. Link: http://www.blizzard.com/account/
- Under "Manage My Games", click "Add a Game".
- Type in your RoC cdkey, then click "Add Game".
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 with your TFT key too.
- Click on the newly added Reign of Chaos image button.
- Click on "Download PC Client"
- Do the same for TFT.
- Run both Downloader_*.exe files and wait until the 1.4GB download completes.
- Install Warcraft 3, then install TFT.
- Connect to Battle.net or manually patch to the latest version.
- Done.
No cdkey(s)? Do it the "unlawful" way!

Depends on which torrent you downloaded.
The PC torrent needs to be mounted with "DAEMON Tools" or any other optical disc emulator.
The 1+2+3 torrent needs to be unrarred.
The MAC torrent needs a double click, but obviously only works on MACs.

Some clients allow you to skip any part of torrents, so you can download the TFT files from a torrent that has both TFT and RoC:
• The original BitTorrent client
• The uTorrent client

i have registered at https://us.battle.net/account/management/ and have put my games on that account cd key and everything. downloaded WC3 ROC and installed perfectly fine. I saved it to my desktop and installed it into the programs folder and did perfectly fine. But when i tried to download my FT i saved the client to my desktop just like ROC, but when i run it for FT it can't start downloading and says "There was a problem authenticating your download. Please go to http://www.blizzard.com/account/ to start a new download. It's just a small vicious circle of fails. any advice?

Hi 3ICE,
I am not very savvy with this sort of thing and have some questions about installing and playing the games.
I finished downloading Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 and installed Warcraft_Shortcuts, however when I try to launch the games it comes up with;
DOSBOX.EXE - Unable To Locate Component
This application has failed to start because SDL.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I tried reinstalling Warcraft_Shortcuts but this doesn't change anything.
Also, I am vaguely aware of how DOSBOX works but as I said I am not very savvy with this sort of thing, so if you could please help me out I would be very greatful.

You did not provide enough information.
OS?
CPU?
RAM?
Which game? All three?
Why do you have to use Dosbox? This is a Windows game, so use the default command prompt.
Did you try downloading SDL.dll for Dosbox? It asks for it, so it is logical to do this.
Did you do as instructed? "Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
The problem is probably with dosbox. It failed to start. There is nothing wrong with the torrent.

Hi again 3ICE, I managed to figure out why I was unable to play the games.
Now I am stuck on the "unlawful" part of things.
I do not have a CD key for WC2. I tried private servers but they are pvp orientated when I am looking for campaign mode. I am probably overlooking something blatantly obvious but if you could point me in the right direction I would be much obliged.

Campaigns are not multiplayer.

I apologise if I did not make my self clear.
What I meant was, I am unable to play WC2 without the CD key. The only launch app I can find is the BNE one. I am unsure if there is something I am doing wrong or if I need to download the normal edition rather than the BNE.

I need some assistance, which is somewhat related to new install. I have legal RoC and TFT CD-keys but my connection is not the best with Battle.net since I live in South America.
a) I like playing with Garena, but I can't make it work on Windows7 (it doesn't launch the game)? do you have any clue how I could make it work?
b) Is there a way to find the map editor in other languages (spanish)? I want to teach basic programming to a friend and I feel the World Editor GUI is excellent to explain the logic behind programming.
On a side note, I really like how you correct people's grammar and spelling. Both English and Spanish suffer the same problems as people simply don't care about their writing skills anymore.

I feel sooo far behind, I'm barely learning Java and Visual Basic and I'm 27, you are like 20 and already know so many computer languages. Any tricks or tips on how to speed up my learning? Tutorials, guides, projects… I'm smart so just throw anything at me, I'll figure it out.
Well back on the topic, Garena doesn't work even if I run it as an administrador… I also tried using various compatibility modes without any success, any other suggestions? Garena itself (Chat, etc…) works, it simply doesn't launch the game, and I'm did set the correct application path.

I noticed you said your spoken english is not the best. Mine isn't awesome either but if you want to practice a little bit I'm avaiable. I lived in the US for 5 years, got a chemical engineering degree over there and came back to my home country 5 years ago (Venezuela).

I have two guesses:
Either the "me" in that error refers to a player who calls himself "me" in order to play a joke on people like you.
Or you experienced a disconnect and are now forced to wait 15-60 minutes for battle.net to catch up.
The first part of your comment was really nice and spell-checked, but the second part is a mess and I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Do you suffer from ADHD? (short attention span)

I have cdkeys for both tft and roc. I have two tft cds. i have full game installed on laptop. I have full game installed on old hard drive with different cdkeys than laptop. I have newharddrive, (old one died) how do i make this happen.

Hello guys im just wonduring.. i have both CD keys roc and tft im doing it the " legal way " but im just wonduring if u can help me with one small thing im running the Roc installer atm and its running great ..however regarding the TFT downloader it tells me that " it cannot be excuted for some reason close all applications and try later " do i need to have finished the RoC dl from the downloader and then run the TFT downloader? much thanks in advance

You should be able to run both programs at the same time. I'm guessing your PC doesn't have enough RAM or HDD space.
I did a quick test and right now I am running the RoC downloader, the TFT downloader and the RoC installer all at the same time. The only limitation (which is perfectly logical and should not work any other way) is that you can't install TFT unless you have RoC already installed (which I don't).
Without you putting in some effort (typing down the exact error message) I am not able to help you. Why can't you tell us the exact error message? In the "for some reason" the exact reason is very important in figuring out the problem! No error message → no help.

hello 3ICE just wondering if you could help me,
basically i have just got TFT come through the post earlier than my ROC, can i go online and download the torrent version ( illegal - non internet ) copy and then install TFT ontop of that, use the legit TFT cd key and would that allow me to play online for TFT battlenet or would that not work? thanks.

We need two legit CD keys to play TFT online. One RoC and one TFT. Both keys are required, so the answer is no.
EDIT: But you can try TFT in singleplayer while you wait for your RoC key to arrive and then use a cd-key changer to swap out the generated RoC key to the legit one.

I have the CD, but not the case, so I don't know my CD key, and cannot get on my old computer to pull it off. Is there any way to either get a new CD key or play on bnet without one?

Blizzard might not be doing CD-key replacements anymore. Anyway, it has a 10$ fee and a 30 days waiting time, so I don't suggest going that route. (more info)
Solution 2, okay:
You can always find private servers through Google. (List of servers ordered by popularity vote)
Solution 3, best:
Step 1: Wait a few days.
Step 2: Go to a store on 27th July at midnight.
Step 3: Purchase StarCraft 2.
Step 4: Enjoy.

additionally, im planning on purchasing SC2 when my money is right, ($60 -sigh-)
and had a question pertaining to whether or not 'botting and/or hacking gameplay' would be as abundant as it used to be in SC1, seeing as how you are obviously aware of how to do such things im sure.

Not the right place to post this. I have a forum. Anyway, hackers are unbeatable, there is no 100% secure system. So yes, of course SC2 is going to see maphacks, drophacks, and other exploits very soon after release. Blizzard can fight the hackers, and as long as they do, we don't have to worry about long-term widespread hacking. As soon as a hack gets too popular, blizzard will patch the game. The problem with war3 is that it has turned into a legacy game for Blizzard. They no longer have a full developer team assigned to it and the legacy team is much slower at responding to new issues.
I hope you meant bots like glider and gold seller spambots, because nobody should have any problem with regular chat- and hostbots. They actually help the community a great deal. I have close to zero SC1 experience by the way. My first Blizzard game was Warcraft 3.
Yes, SC2 is badass. In fact, it is so badass I can't even play it. My computer is very old and I can't afford all the upgrades I need. (Got a videocard already, now just need a PSU and a motherboard.)
I did, however manage to register an account: I tricked the game into believing I have what it takes to run it, then I spent almost an hour accepting the EULAs it threw at me. (The lag was a killer here.) Since the screen was frozen and I had no visible mouse cursor, I had to use an overlay that "pings" the position of my mouse whenever I press a hotkey. (That lagged like a bitch as well…) Since we have to scroll down before being able to accept the EULA, I moved my mouse inch by inch in a general direction towards the scrollbar, until the overlay reported that I'm over it. (Overshot it twice.) I then held down my left mouse button for 2 minutes. (That's how long it took the game to register my click.) And with a swift downwards motion and two more minutes of waiting for the game to generate a new frame (That's 0.0083 FPS by the way.) the EULA was finally "read". I used the method described above to now position my mouse over the I accept button and clicked it for two minutes, then did the same steps with the second agreement. Registering an account after the EULA nightmare felt like a piece of cake as I could finally use my keyboard. Of course I knew from the beta that Battle.net 2.0 is going to be a regression and disappointment compared to 1.0 (2.0 is also called Battle.net 0.5 by the critics). So I wasn't even surprised when I was told how invalid my name was. So I can't be "3ICE", what am I to do? I went for the pronunciation; "Thrice". I was also assigned a three digit whatchamacallit that I'm going to hate forever as it is coincidentally the three numbers I had in my super awesome alphanumerical password. Was it a coincidence? I hope so. Anyway, I changed my password to something else and doubled its length just to be sure, then uninstalled the game. (There is no use having it installed until I can actually run it.)
tl;dr version: Blizzard, I am disappoint.
p.s.: Another fun story about how I walked 10 miles in the middle of the night to be there at launch on the 27th will be told on another day. The event was fun, some lucky guys even got a free CE by winning in a quiz that I knew all answers to. Too bad I couldn't participate. (There was a raffle, my chance of winning a ticket for the quiz was 1:1000)

hey 3ice i did it the legal way but after i installed TFT no icon came up in the desktop but an installer comes where it says Play warcraft 3 i click on it and ROC starts……nd i tried to connect to battle net in ROC it fails to patch i did it manually still it says its missing a file….what should i do plz help…..btw i have both the cds i tried installing them but when it freezes 1/2 way through frozen throne…

Could be a damaged CD. Easiest solution is to download the torrents and use your legal CD keys with them (and don't copy over the cracked files).
Blizzard can't tell the difference between legal and nonlegal installations, so as long as the CD keys you use are legit, you are safe.

Sure, you can use one CD key on as many computers as you want. (But you will only be able to log in to battle.net from one computer at a time of course.)
…Or from 4 computers, if you use all the available realms. (Different realm for each computer.)

The answer to all your questions is: "Yes, absolutely!" The reason behind this is as follows:
WarCraft 3 is dying right now.
The new big game, StarCraft 2 is finally out, and every RTS fan is making the switch.
So getting free CD keys from the quitters seems like a wonderful idea. I'm sure you have more than a couple friends who you can inherit a CD key from. I already sold my keys, sorry. (Back when they still had monetary value.)

Hey 3ICE, im not sure if you are still checking this.. I lost my WCIII Reign of Chaos cd along with the cd key, but I found my frozen throne disk with a working CD key. I would like to play frozen throne on battle.net but it says I have to have the full version of reign of chaos installed. HOw can i install reign of chaos without the CD key? is that even possible? or do i really have to go out and buy a new reign of chaos? :(

You have a "CD for downloading the game"? Wow! I'd love to see that…
If the game is installed on your computer right now, use a CD key grabber to retrieve your CD key.
If you can download the game from Blizzard's Battle.net service, that means you already registered with your CD key on that site, and it should be no problem to retrieve your CD key from there.

The answer is no to both of you. But I have a solution for both of you.
Private (so called PVPGN) servers are the solution for Anon.
Google is the solution for Joe. Lots of working cd keys online, just have to test a them one by one. Grab a cd key changer to speed up the process. Or do it with a chat bot.
By the way I know that you guys are the same person (or brothers/neighbors/friends), based on your IP addresses.

Hello i recently reinstalled wc3 and updated via bnet to 1.26, it was 1.18 before if im not wrong. I need to get it back to 1.25b. what should i do? please email me back.

You will have to reinstall again. Then get the patch from here: http://www.3ice.hu/blog/patch-warcraft/ (look for the word "specific")

Dear 3ice, I purchased wc3 via batte.net a couple weeks ago and today I have just reinstalled it using the same cd key. While still logged on to the same battle.net account I tried to register the game after installation. It took me to battle.net (already logged in to my account with the registered game) and I typed in the same cd key and it said it's been claimed (obviously by me). So my battle.net account is registered but my reinstalled game isn't so I can't play online. Sheep tag is not the same without the shepards chasing you. So how can I get the game registered and or you seem to have a way of poofing up serial keys if you could give me one to easily fix this but if not how do I fix this.

well i got a problem too - i download a cracked version of War3 Roc-TFT so i can play it without Cd's - when i start install them they appear do not need cd keys and after instilation i use a cd changer program so i can put mine cd keys on both Roc-TFT - after that when i try to login to europe battlenet server it say "unable to login,if u are using a modem check your internet connection…." (i try to login on europe before i put mine cd keys but it was need them)(also i can login on other servers us.east-west) plz if there is anythink wrong with mine cracked version plz send me a link with a fixed version about europe and post a step-by-step tutorial becose mine mind realy stuck

Fwebby: You don't have to register your copy of the game online again when reinstalling. You have already done it once. Have you even tried running it yet? It works. Out of the box. Registration is optional anyway. You might have connection issues, but those are not related to online registration.
Xaralabos: I'm not reading that mess of a comment you spewed there. Get a spell checker and put more effort into your next comment. Or don't come back.
To anyone looking for free cd keys: Google "free wc3 cd key" and try a couple from a random page. To all skeptics saying no: It is definitely possible. It might take a few hours to find one that works and isn't always in use though.

Hello I've got a problem, I want to play on battle.net I got original cd-keys, but not the game, I downloaded ROC as you said in the first post, but I can't do the same for FT, because it is already used in some other battle.net account, my friend gave it to me, so I need to download original game, without crack, where I can download game,insert my cd-key,and play on battle.net?

You can download it with crack and then simply skip the craking step and proceed with proper installation.
Or since I'm a nice guy, here is the official Blizzard TFT downloader. You can use it without owning TFT.

Thanks dude, I'll download it right now.I hope it will work,although I suspect because I downloaded RoC via battle.net and it won't recognize any game unless battle.net one, but at least I have original RoC cd,which doesn't require crack! :-D

Nah I downloaded it but again it needed crack,so I cracked.. Finally I pressed Battle.net but now this pops-up Unable to connect to Battle.net

Just because a crack is supplied, you don't necessarily have to use it. The files you downloaded should be a direct copy of the contents of the official TFT cd. The only modification is what's inside the crack folder. Just ignore it and pretend you are installing from a CD. (Which you are, virtually anyway.)

Well I had to crack,because otherwise I can't open the game. How to check if my cd-key is banned?
I am sorry for double/triple posts, but I don't have an edit option .. Okey, after surfing a bit I think I found the solution for my problem. Few guys mentioned that they fixed this error just by patching. Now the main problem is what patches to download? I have 1.07, and I am pretty sure I can't go directly from 1.07 to 1.26a? Or I can? What patch to download first?

You can get the full 1.26a patch from there and it will work no matter what version you are on now. You will want to download the one called "Standalone", "1.26a Full Patch".

I have "The Frozen Throne". The overly composed graphic in the first scene is quite inadequate to the rest of the game. Oblivious failure, to my approval that is. Anyway, the World of Warcraft series is fun. :)

Hi,
I've lost my wc3 CD but i still retain the CD keys.
I logged in to blizzard and entered the CD keys but an error pops up and say that
it has been redeemed. But i dont remember me registering it before. What should i do? Is there any other ways to go about installing the game?

Hi,
You can download the torrent above. (Easiest solution)
If you have the CD case or the manual, you can snail-mail it in to Blizzard HQ along with 10$, to get a replacement CD. Instructions are here:

(Yes, that article is about a different error message than what you are receiving, but the replacement method is the same for every error.)But that would not invalidate your old cd key and you still won't be able to register it with your battle.net account. Which is bad.
So, if you request your current cd key to be invalidated instead, you would not get a new CD, but you could download the full installer legally from your battle.net account here: http://battle.net/account/management/download/ I think that's the way to go. (Or just torrent it.)

Hi 3ice,
first of all thanks,i have downloaded my dota finally, but then i have some issues with this thing that keeps on saying;
Please insert the CD labeled "The Frozen Throne."
everytime i try to open and it wouldnt launch at all not unless i open the warcraft TFT installer.
its like it would like me to open my installer for the rest my life to play with this dota tft warcraft.
is there any way i could just play it without leaving the installer open all the time??
